What’s been keeping Stacey busy?

questionsA number of our Expat Advisors Community members have asked “What’s happened to our regular discussion groups?”

The last get together was the Venture Capital event on 4th February, following the January pre-mission briefings and networking drinks ahead of Think Global’s “Invest in Australia” delegation to the Asian Financial Forum, and last November with the amazing Cynthia Dearin sharing insights on doing business in the MENA region

New role at NAB

I’ve been busy working on transitioning my Wealth Advisory practice from NAB Private Wealth to NAB Business Banking. From late April/early May, I’ll be based at World Square with Annie Lee (pictured left) and the Asia focused business banking teams. This will be a tremendous opportunity to continue to immerse myself in the Asian culture, a bit like working in Asia while still living in “Straya”!

My personal mission is to expand the wealth advisory proposition from the Significant Investor Visa inbound investor program, to local Asian clients who have largely been focused on the property sector. I have also joined the NAB Business Asia Advisory Council which includes our colleagues in Hong Kong and China, with exciting opportunities including payment gateways across Asia and innovation initiatives.

Judy Hendricks, NAB Business Bank in Chatswood and fellow Asia Ambassador has co-founded the Australia Asia Executive Center (AAEC). A private room at Zilver was the venue for the farewell followed by a visit to a local karaoke bar, so a great start to my initiation to business bank!

Guangzhou soccerI’ve been fortunate to attend their events including the Guangzhou Evergrade soccer match (pictured left) and upcoming China Guangdong forum (booked out).

High Tea - standing

I also facilitated a high tea for our Cross-Cultural networks, as one of a first of a series Judy is holding which you can read about here.

Australia Week in China – April 2016

I’m thrilled to be included as part of the 1,000 strong delegation to Australia Week in China (AWIC) commencing Monday 11th April as part of the Financial Services Stream.  Kicks off in Hong Kong, before traveling on to Shanghai, where I will be staying with my good friend Yvonne Liu, PwC, previously with KPMG Sydney’s China desk. Can’t wait to enjoy some local hospitality with her family.

You can read my post on the Financial Services program activities here.
