“Creating a Sustainable and Inclusive Future”
Theme for the 2019 Asian Financial Forum as part of International Finance week in Hong Kong.
The Asian Financial Forum (AFF), now in its 12th year, is presented by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC) on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th January. It brings together some of the most influential members of the global financial and business community to discuss business and economic trends as well as sustainability, with a strong focus on FinTech, entrepreneurship and start-ups.
With a focus towards sustainability, inclusiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship, the theme of “Creating a Sustainable and Inclusive Future”, will include issues such as financial inclusion, openness and green finance.
The AFF is also a platform for thought leadership and networking:
- AFF Deal Flow – business matching co-organised by Hong Kong Private Equity and Venture Capital Association where those with projects can pitch to potential investors from around the world. You can view the 2018 project template here
- Innoventure Salon at the AFF Deal Flow will feature venture capitalists, experienced innovators, start-ups at the Startup Zone, Investor Alley, Project Demos, Mentor Hours and Startup Clinic
- FinTech Showcase – will be launched for financial institutions and technology companies to present their latest innovations and solutions related to FinTech, Artificial Intelligence, Data, Blockchain, Cyber Security, InsurTech, Payment Tech, RegTech and WealthTech.
Australia at the AFF Expo
We will have a prominent position in the expo to attract conference attendees and speakers interested in Australia. You can also connect with other delegates by downloading the HKTDC Conference App.
Day trip to Shenzhen, China
If you haven’t been to China, this is a great opportunity to cross the border and experience the size and colour of China. Thirty years ago, Shenzhen was a fishing village. Today it is the centre of innovation. Leaving from Hong Kong and passing over the border, there will be a visit to the free trade zone, briefings with local companies and networking with industry associations, government and the local business community before returning to Hong Kong in the evening.
Family Office Conference
Thursday 17th and Friday 18th January is the Family Office Solutions Showcase (FOSS), the exclusive conference of the Asian Family Office (AFO). Delegates can connect with families and intermediaries throughout the conference and arrange one-on-one meetings. There will also be a limited number of speaking spots to showcase the expertise of our delegates.
Other business networking events
The Australian & New Zealand mission includes a range of bespoke activities commencing with the Sunday evening Welcome Cocktail with local VIPs, an exclusive dinner with the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), networking with the Australian & New Zealand Chambers of Commerce and a Junk Cruise on Hong Kong harbour hosted by Hong Kong Corporate Services Group.
Preparation starts with a personal consultation with Delegation Leader Stacey Martin. First step is to understand your business and objectives for the mission, review your LinkedIn profile and produce a dual-language profile for the Delegate Booklet.
We will also consider potential introductions from the Expat Advisors Community network in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and of course set up on WeChat to start the communication with delegates and supporters.
For those looking at capital raising or funding for their projects, will include a complimentary story on our Open Sesame business introduction platforms along with preparation for the AFF Deal Flow matching.
Prior to departure there will be a pre-mission briefing on Tuesday 8th January as well as a post event leanings and business outcomes session scheduled for Monday 11th February, 2019.
We have also put together some useful information on logistics to help make your experience as seamless as possible – you can access the Information Booklet here.
